I really loved k.d. lang's version of "A Case of You" on her Hymns of the 49th Parallel album. Heard it this morning, getting off the train & it really calmed me down after being so nervous about the NYC subway scare.

Sarah McLachlan covers "Blue", which is alright. The Indigo Girls sang "River" on their live album 1200 Curfews, which I adore- in fact, it was that song that made me buy my first Joni cd! I once had a Tori Amos mix in which she did "A Case of You"- I liked it well enough, but loaned the tape to someone I worked with and never got it back after her firing/arrest. <grin>

My favorite songs on it are Carey and Case of You. I can't stand Richard Thompson and James Taylor also bores me but...all in all it's a good video.

I can honestly say I haven't heard the Natalie Merchant version, but I gave up on her when the 10,000 Maniacs ceased. I'll look for it, tho.
Oh, and Cassandra Wilson does "Black Crow" in her own special way, although I wouldn't say I like it better than Joni's, its very Cassandra.

Dolly Parton does a really interesting, and kinda fun version of Both Sides Now on her new album.

I didn't really care for kd lang's "A Case of You" I think it's one of those songs that has been done so many times that no one can really do much with it anymore, and it's not like Joni doesn't have a wealth of material to choose from.
